Hey there, I'm Ava!
I’m just a Texas girl living my best Utah life — writing fun, flirty love stories that always end exactly the way they should… with the kiss.
Around here you’ll find clean contemporary romance and rom-com. Low to no spice. No swears. And every ending a Happily Ever After.

Everything you could ever want to know but never asked for...
What’s in a name?
Ava was the name of my great-grandmother on my mom’s side of the family. And Wakefield was the maiden name of my great-grandmother on my dad’s side. So, I guess you could say this really is a family name!
But here’s the part I don’t talk about very often…
My real name isn’t Ava Wakefield at all.
It’s Jamie.
You see, I chose to start writing under a pen name back in 2023 when I made the decision to publish my first book on Amazon. But I’ve always had a thriving career outside of writing that I still love and show up even to this day. The truth is, Ava Wakefield Romance started out as nothing more than a faceless brand I only ever dreamed would grow into what it is now.
It wasn’t until that fateful day I took a leap of faith, went all in on Instagram, and changed my profile picture to the mug shot you see above that I finally found my tribe alongside the closed-door romance Bookstagram community. I still can’t get over all the wonderful friends I’ve made since.
I’ve always tried my best to keep my private life… well… private, but those who follow me on my social media platforms know they can expect the best of both worlds when I show up to post. The books AND the girl behind them.
Feel free to come hang out with me and all of my new friends by clicking any of the social icons in the menu above.
Waltz across Texas
First of all, if you don’t know the song by Ernest Tubb (((be still my heart))), promise me you’ll go look it up later.
I might write stories about fake relationships, but this draw is real, y’all. My Utah friends still call me Texas even though I traded the Lonestar State for a back porch view of the Uintas back in 2020 and never looked back.
These days I’ve made a new home for myself here in Salt Lake City — and honestly? The hunky mountain men with dad bods have been a great source of writing inspo when the writer’s block starts creeping.
Chasing plot bunnies
(and other hobbies)
When I’m not out hiking around, car-camping, pickin’ on my guitar, pounding on the ivories, or just too busy kicking it with my church homies…
You’ll likely find me curled up on the couch with my laptop, a mug of hot chocolate, and a Cozy Hobbit Coffee Shop YouTube playlist playing in the background.
Yep, that’s me. Forever dreaming of new ways to pull the rug out from under my favorite characters. All in the most sacred name of love… but of course!
My current trope obsessions include:
- Small town and coastal romance
- Cowboys
- Firefighters and other men in uniform
- He falls first
- Brother’s best friend
- Best friend’s brother
- Next door neighbor
- Grumpy/sunshine (traditional and reverse)
- Enemies to lovers
- Fake dating
- Opposites attract
- Forced proximity
- Second chance
- and my all time personal favorite… Best friends to lovers
